PRESENTATION OUTLINE

DISCUA THROW TECHNIQUE

Discus includes a combination of strength and technique, a discus throw requires balance before you throw it's important to gain momentum before the release, discus is about release of motion when approaching a throw all strength is required for more distance, the athlete can embrace there performance with an assist of speed creating momentum. Using the transfer of weight by rotating your hips from the side to front before releasing the discus. This engages the use of the legs and muscles in the torso which adds to the force contributing to the distance covered by the discus/object.

BIOMECHANICS IN DISCUS

Biomechanics is the study of the mechanical laws relating to the movement or structure of living organisms, when comparing my first throw of 15m to my technical throw of 20m, when watching back seeing my poorly applied technique, my lack of of power and involvement of strength, but due to increasing efforts, my distance was better than what I started with. By adding biomechanics to my throw it decreases chances of injury and prolonged issues, my throw includes includes the technique required with a side standing position and a full flat handed throw gaining me more distance and a better angle for my throw

WHAT IS BIOMECHANICS

Biomechanics in sports, can be stated as the muscular, joint and skeletal actions of the body during the execution of a given task, skill and/or technique. Proper understanding of biomechanics relating to sports skill has the greatest implications on: sports performance, rehabilitation and injury prevention, along with sport mastery. Newton's first law of motion is referred to as the law of interia. It states that an object in motion will stay in motion unless acted upon by an outside force.

1ST THROW

My first throw includes the basics of discus, a dynamic discus throw is standing on a sideways position feet wide apart and the discus is placed flat in your throwing hand and includes the movement of your arm swinging 90 degrees leaning back and forth creating momentum and releasing once discus is flat in hand in air. My first throw included these basics getting a distance of 15m by representing the technique used for this throw, using the transfer of weight by rotating my hips a small percentage creating a build up of strength and speed my throw didn't initially reach standards because of lack of commitment too the throw.

2ND THROW

My 2nd throw reached standards by committing my every movement to the throw my stance was at the back of the semi circle feet still wide and same rhythm of first throw, but included was a half spin which gave a far greater release of motion and got me a distance of 20m this throw was more technical making the throw more reliable for distance and technique, the spin gave me more speed, accuracy and strength making the release easier to manage.
