  • Intellectual abilities that cause a child to be a year behind
  • Delay in motor skills
  • Smaller vocabulary and shorter sentence length

CHILDREN WITH MENTAL DISABILITIES

  • Grasp of simple, but not highly complex ideas
  • Avoidance of difficult tasks
  • Short attention spans
  • Difficulty making choices
  • More-than-average fondness for repetition

  • Are problems in one or more areas (math,language,etc,)
  • Developmental dyslexia affects a child ability to read
  • Development dyscalculia affects a childs math abilities

CAUSES OF LEARNING DISABILITIES

  • Physical in nature
  • Misfiring of electrical charges in the brain
  • Often noted during school years

CHILDREN WITH BEHAVIOR DISORDERS

  • Patterns of problems that surface in behavior
  • Aggressive behavior is an outward behavior disorder
  • Withdrawn behavior occurs when a child doesn't relate with others

CHILDREN WITH BEHAVIOR DISORDERS

  • Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Involves the lack of attention and hyperactivity
  • Attention-defecit disorder (ADD)
  • Involves the lack of attention , but not hyperactive behavior
