HERNANDO DE SOTO

  • Born 1500 in Jerez de Los Cabaalleros, Spain
  • In 1514 he joined Dávila, governor of Darién on his expedition
  • Set as captain of the calvary of the exploration troops.

HERNAN CORTES

  • He was born in 1485 in Medellin. He was described as pale sickly child.
  • At 14 he was sent to his uncle's to study law for two years. He stopped after two years
  • At 16 he was described as a restless, haughty and mischievous person.
  • It as fair considering that he had returned home only to find it frustrating,
  • Living in a small town. He on December 2nd, 1547, age 62, from pleurisy.

FRANCISCO VASQUEZ DE CORONADO

  • Francisco was born in Salamanca, Spain around 1510
  • He was the younger son so he had no fortune to inherit.
  • In 1535 he got a position in government.
  • He died in September 22, 1554.

JUAN PONCE DE LEON

  • Born 1474 in Santervás de Campos, Castile
  • In 1493 he joined Columbus on his expedition
  • Died in July 1521, age 47, in Havana Cuba

  • Conquered Peru
  • Explored North America

HERNAN CORTES

  • Conquered the Aztecs
  • Explored Hispaniola.
  • He claimed Honduras.

FRANCISCO VASQUEZ DE CORONADO

  • He explored what is now present day Mexico.
  • Conquered the Zuni Indian tribe.
  • He also explored what is present day Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas.

JUAN PONCE DE LEON

  • Settled the island of San Juan.

  • He looked for the fountain of youth.
