LAS FALLAS

  • Las Fallas literally means "the fires" in Valencian.
  • The focus of the fiesta is the creation and destruction of ninots, and
  • the ninots remain in place until March 19th, the day known as La Cremá

CADIZ CARNIVAL

  • Carnival in Cadiz is said to be the third largest Carnival
  • celebration in the world. The crews of the Spanish galleons
  • that brought back gold and silver to Cadiz from the New World
  • also brought back a variety of musical influences that are
  • still evident at today's Carnival revelry.

SPANISH CHRISTMAS

  • Christmas in Spain gets off to a rather peculiar and unofficial
  • start on Dec. 22nd when children from San Ildefonso School can
  • be heard calling out the numbers and prizes of the Lotería de Navidad.

TAPAS

  • Spanish tapas can vary from simple to complex and include cheese,
  • fish, eggs, vegetable dishes, dips, canapés, and savoury pastries.

GAZPACHO

  • Gazpacho is one of the most world renowned Spanish dishes.
  • It is a cold soup, sometimes referred to as a liquid salad,
  • that is ideally served in the summer months because it is
  • rich in vitamins and refreshing to drink. Gazpacho is also a
  • dish that forms part of the world famous Mediterranean Diet.

BUÑUELOS DE VIENTO

  • Buñuelos de viento are traditional pastries served in many
  • parts of Spain to celebrate All Saints Day. They are small dough
  • balls made of flour, butter and eggs that are fried in hot olive oil.

BARCELONA

  • , Barcelona is the city with the second largest population in Spain

  • In the center of Spain, between Madrid and Valencia, sits the province of
  • Cuenca and its capital city of the same name.
  • Cuenca main economy is tourism UNESCO
  • declared the city a World Heritage Site.

ALHAMBRA OF GRANADA

  • The complex palace of the Alhambra has been keeping watch
  • over the city of Granada for centuries.
  • Alhambra means “The Red” in Arabic,and its complete
  • name was "al Qal'at al-hamra" (Red fort).

PALACIO REAL

  • The Palacio Real (Royal Palace) of Madrid is the official residence of
  • the King of Spain although it is only used for state ceremonies. The Royal
  • Palace was built between 1738 to 1755 and King Carlos III took up
  • residence in the palace in 1764.

EL ESCORIAL

  • Nestled in the foothills of the Sierra de Guadarrama, El Escorial
  • was the political center of the Spanish empire under King Philip II.
  • Today it functions as a monastery, royal palace, museum, and school.

AQUEDUCT OF SEGOVIA

  • The Aqueduct of Segovia is one of the best-preserved monuments
  • left by the Romans in Spain. The ancient aqueduct carries water 16 km
  • from the Frío River to Segovia and was built of some 24,000 massive
  • granite blocks without the use of mortar.

  • Bullfighting is certainly one of the best-known-although at the same
  • time most controversial-Spanish popular customs.
  • A corrida starts with the paseillo, when everybody involved in the bullfight
  • enters the ring and presents themselves to the president and public.

  • It was painted by Pablo Picasso. it was significance is that all the faces of the
  • picture and the positions of the bodies are an expression of the horror

FLAMENCO

  • Flamenco is an art that mixes music and dance the originated in
  • southern Spain.
  • Some famous Spanish flamenco artists include Raimundo Amador,
  • Ketama and Rosario Flores among others.

SARDANA

  • Several couples join hands and dance in a closed circle in
  • this traditional dance from Catalonia.

MUÑEIRA

  • Danced in twos or alone along to the music of bagpipes, this
  • traditional "Miller's Dance" is typical throughout Galicia and Asturias.

  • Real Madrid professional football club based in Madrid, Spain.
  • Founded in 1902 as Madrid Football Club, the team has traditionally
  • worn a white home kit since.
  • Captain is Cristiano Ronaldo!

F.C. BARCELONA

  • It is the second most valuable sports team on the globe, worth $3.2
  • billion, and the world's second-richest football club in terms of revenue,
  • with an annual turnover of $613 million.
