1. WHERE IS IT RELATIVE TO OTHER COUNTRIES?

• South America is south west to Africa, Asia and Europe.
• North and Central Americas are to the north of South America.
• Australia is to the east of South America.
• South America is to the north of Antartica.
• Other than North and Central Americas you would have to travel by sea or air from other countries to get there.

2. HOW IS THE LOCATION SIGNIFICANT?

• South America is a continent located in the Western Hemisphere, mostly in the Southern Hemisphere, with a small portion of land in the Northern Hemisphere.
• It is bordered on the West by the Pacific Ocean and on the north and East by the Atlantic Ocean.

• The geography of Western South America is dominated by the Andes mountains; in contrast of the eastern parts containing both high lands regions and large lowlands where rivers such as the Amazon, Parana, and Orinoco flow, mostly lying in the tropics.
• The Caribbean Sea and North America lie to the North West. Including 12 sovereign states being Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

• It is one of the best landscapes in Colombia.
• Punta Gallinas is inhabited by hundreds of people, dating back to the Wayuu family.

• Cape Horn is the southernmost point in South America.
• Is also the southernmost of the Great Capes.
• Is known for its dangers having: strong winds, large waves, heavy sea currents and huge icebergs; making Cape Horn a "sailor's graveyard."
• Is in southern Chile and the coordinates are 55.9800*S and 67.2892*W.
• Cape Horn is in the city of Tierra deal Fuego.

• Ponta do Seixas is the easternmost point in South America.
• It lies in Brazil.

7. HOW FAR IS IT FROM OXNARD? DIRECTION?

• To get to South America from Oxnard one must travel southeast towards Panama, and then south to arrive to the northern part of South America.
