PRESENTATION OUTLINE

SOUNDER

BY: TOR

WHAT ARE THE MAIN IDEAS OF THE STORY?

  • Slavery is not fair
  • It effects white and black peoples lives too because the north people did not like it and the black people were tortured for not doing anything wrong.
  • The other main idea is that the dog is called Sounder because of its voice. The dad is a hunter and the family's is really poor and they are fighting to survive.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN IDEAS OF THE STORY?

  • The person telling/writing the story is trying to tell how it was like to love in that time if you were like them. He/she was trying to tell the people that what the people were doing were wrong.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE STORY?

  • I would describe the book interesting and sad because the dog and the dad dies without doing anything bad.
  • The story is really sad and it explains the sadness and badness of the effect of racism to the black people that effected them thoroughly.
  • It is true.

WHAT ARE THE ONE OR TWO HIGHLIGHTS?

  • One of the highlights are that the sheriff is not fair in my perspective because the dog did not do anything wrong. The dog only barked and the sheriff shot the dog. The sheriff arrested the dad just because he smelt sausages and ham from their house.

Who is your favorite character?
My favorite character is sounder because he is a good dog and he loves his owner. He is a good dog. He just almost sacrificed his life trying to stop them taking the dad away by barking but It didn't work.

HOW DOES THE AUTHOR KEEP YOU INTRESTED?

  • The author keeps me interested by using interesting language. The language was old fashioned. It was rude sometimes because it was wrote in the old times so it was okay but it was a bit rude.

WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THE STORY AND WHY?

  • I would recommend this book to people who like historical books which have old fashion language.
  • I don't recommend it to young children because they might use the bad language.
