WHAT DOES THE SOLAR SYSTEM CONSIST OF?

  • It constists of:
  • The sun
  • 8 planets with their satellite
  • Dwarf planets
  • Small solar system bodies

THE SUN

  • The sun consist of two gases:
  • Hydrogen
  • Helium
  • It is at the centre of the Solar System

PLANETS

  • They are sferical bodies wich revolve around the sun.
  • They inner planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars.
  • They are made up of rock.
  • The outer planets are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune.

DWARF PLANETS

  • They are spherical bodies which orbit the Sun
  • They are smoller than planets
  • Examples:
  • Pluton
  • Ceres

SATELLITES

  • Satellites orbit planets and consist of rock
  • Example:
  • Moon

ASTEROIDS

  • They are rocky objects wich are irregular in shape.

COMETS

  • Their orbit is elliptic
