SOLAR ENERGY

No Description

PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Solar energy is radiant light and heat from the sun harnessed using a range of ever evolving technologies such as solar heating ,photovoltaics, solar thermal energy, solar architecture and artificial photosynthesis.

It is an important source of renewable energy and its technologies are broadly characterised as either passive solar or active solar depending on the way they capture and distribute solar energy or convert it into solar power.Active solar techniques include the use of photovoltaic systems concentrated solar power and solar water heating to harness the energy

Passive solar techniques include orienting a building to the sun selecting materials with favourable thermal mass or light dispersing properties and designing spaces that naturally circulate air.

Solar panels were created by Calvin Fuller and Daryl Chapin

In 2008 the world used about 474 exajoules or 132000 TeraWatts hours worth of energy from all sources.

The top 10 solar energy using countries are
1.Germany(9,785MW)
2.Spain(3,386MW)
3.Japan(2,633MW)
4.US(1,650MW)
5. Italy(1,167MW)
6.(Czech republic 465MW)
7.Belgium(363MW)
8.China(305MW)
9. France(272MW)

10.India(120MW)

MW stands for mega watts
Overall, the sun admits about 7,000 times more energy than is required for human consumption
