SOIL PROFILE/HORIZONS

  • Litter- loose layer of plant remains
  • Horizon A-valuable topsoil that has humus clay,and minerals. Most animals live here rich in nutrients
  • Horizon B-Subsoil-with little humus
  • Horizon C-Parent material
  • Bedrock

pH LEVEL

  • A pH level is a soil range from basic to acidic
  • It has to be on 4-10 pH scale
  • Most plants grow with pH between 5 and 7

  • So we can have better plants
  • So we have good food to eat
  • So we can have more animals
  • So earth is happy
