  • Saw the largest amount of members in the the US in the 1970s
  • During the 1940s they started many strikes on factories manufacturing weaponsC
  • Opposed racist discrimation of soldiers during WWII
  • McCarthyism gave way to conservatism in the 1950s
  • Political unrest within the party at this time

PURPOSE

  • Promote Socialism on a global scale
  • Ensure Free elections for all, protest against social injustice
  • Unite the working class to rise up against capitolism
  • Protest against social injustices
  • Encourage workers to seize control of their collective wealth and abolish capitalism

  • Global Organization
  • Small following in the US
  • Funded by the members alone
  • Anywhere from 2-30 dollars depending on income
  • Members from the US were influential in the the occupy Wall Street movement

  • Peter Camajo/Willie Mae Reid: received 90,986 votes, the most received by this party in any presidential election
  • Willie May Reid also ran for mayor of chicago against Richard J Daley
