Question 1-
The Louisiana Purchase was when Thomas Jefferson bought land from France's 1804 current leader, for $15,000,000. It was important to the U.S., because we wanted the New Orleans port. It was also important , because then White Settlers could move westward.
Question 2-
Fort Snelling was built, because the U.S. wanted to keep peace with the Indians. It affects settlement by allowing people to feel safe, and move westward. The U.S. also built Fort Snelling, because they wanted wanted to protect the Fur Trade.
Question 3-
The U.S, negotiated treaties with Dakota because they wanted to buy the land from the Indians. The U.S. negotiated treaties with the Dakota and Ojibwe by getting interpreters and asking the Indians to meet up with them. Treaties were important to the U.S. because, hey wanted the land for settlers.
