American society is structured differently than many other societies one in particular contrast is the India society comprised of mostly Hindus

DIFFERENCES IN INDIA

• Caste system, individuals are ranked based on what level they are born into this is fixed until afterlife
• Americans are more goal or individually oriented as opposed to family motivated
• Americans have more regard for time and its value
• Religion in India is much more important and more a part of daily living than in America
• Significantly less crime in India

SIMILARITIES IN INDIA

• Both countries have institutions like schools prisons and government
• Potential for moving up in social rank although hard to do in india
• Both have societal roles and the strain that comes with them
• Societal norms and laws hold great power in both countries
