PRESENTATION OUTLINE

SMALLPOX(variola)
Smallpox is an infectious, contagious virus with an incubation period of 7-17 days.

Symptoms are the same in men and women. Symptoms include high fever, barfing, head and body aches, and a rash that turns into bumps. These bumps fill with a thick liquid and eventually crust and scab. The victim is contagious until these scabs fall off, indicating the end of the sickness.

SMALLPOX VS. CHICKENPOX

SMALLPOX:ARMS, FACE, LEGS. CHICKENPOX:STOMACH, CHEST, FACE

Smallpox is an infectious disease spread through contact with contaminated bodily fluids or contaminated objects like clothes or blankets. There were also a few cases of an airborne smallpox in enclosed buildings. Humans are its only(natural)host.

The whole process of smallpox, incubation to end, lasts about a month.

There have been a number of smallpox outbreaks in history. Over these outbreaks, smallpox has stayed the same, disease(no deadly(er)mutations).

The death rate of smallpox has been decreasing with advancements in medicine. In fact, there hasn't been a case in over 30 years! That's because after a worldwide vaccination effort, smallpox has been eradicated.

There is no medical cure for smallpox and never has been. It is, however, preventable through vaccination. The vaccine prevents the disease from spreading, and that's how we isolated it until it died out.
