SUMMARY OF THE NECKLACE

  • A very beautiful woman with her helpful husband is poor.
  • She is finally invited to a fancy party, so she borrows her friend's fancy necklace.
  • At the party, she loses the necklace and finds out that it was very expensive.
  • She and her husband work for 10 years and lose everything to pay it off.
  • In the end, she finds out it was an imitation and very cheap.

IRONY IN THE NECKLACE

  • What is expected is for Madame Forester to be very grateful for Mathilde
  • Replacing the necklace that was really a fake
  • This irony points that it doesnt have to be costly to be beautiful.
  • She assumed that the jewels were very expensive because they were pretty
  • They were really just a replica of a real, lavish diamond necklace.
