SIRENOMELIA

Sirenomelia is a very rare congenital malformation. It is the fusion of lower limb structure. It is after fatal.

The causes of sirenomelia are unknown, but some people think it runs in the genes of some families.

SYMPTOMS

  • Fused legs
  • Absence of sacrum
  • Vertebral defects
  • Imperforate anus
  • Absence of rectum, internal and external genitalia and bladder

Sirenomelia can be detected on ultra sounds

The treatment for sirenomelia can only be done by surgery, but most won't make it through because there are many blood vessels in the way.
