Simile:
A Simile is a comparison using "like"or "as."
Example: She was as thin as a pancake.

Metaphor:
A Metaphor is a comparison without using like or as, but using "is" or "are".
Example: You are the apple of my eye.

Idiom:
An Idiom is a phrase or expression which means something different from what the words really say
Example: The early bird catches the worm

Onomatopoeia:
An Onomatopoeia is the use of words that sound like the noise they make.
Example: Snap, Crackle, Pop!

Alliteration:
Alliteration is the repetition of initial consonant sound in two or more neighboring words or syllables.
Example: Beautiful Brittany bitterly bites brownies.

Personification:
Personification is giving a non human thing human traits.
Example: When Maya walked into the store, the dress called to her.

Hyperbole:
A figure of speech using exaggeration.
Example: The trash smelled so bad, I thought I was going to die.
