I is for Imagination

In the dystopian society, imagination and creativity is practically eliminated at a young age.children go to school almost from the cradle and are “taught" by just writing down what the teacher tells them. Philosophy and sociology are elimated.

J Is for Jerk

In Fahrenheit 451, society hates books. Captain Beatty and the other firemen burn down books and the houses that hold them simply because the have books. They are all jerks.

K is for Kerosene

A fireman's weapon of mass destruction is the kerosene hose. They thoroughly soak all the books in a house with it and then watch the blaze. Kerosene has a bad smell and after hours of exposure, it's hard to get off.

L is for Life

In this book, most members of society have no idea what it means to live. All they do is sit and watch TV or run over small animals. No thought is required nor given for anything.

M is for Mildred

Mildred is the wife of Montag and is pretty messed up. All day, she sits with the parlor walls and talks to her "family." To relieve stress, she kills small animals in her car. Her first original thought is probably calling to report Montag for having books.

N is for Noble

In this dystopian society, people vote for president based on how good they looked. The winner of the last election was President Noble. Mrs. Bowles described him as the nicest looking man to ever be president. The fact that they call this politics is a bit rediculous.

O is Obvious

In this book, it is obvious that no one really lives or has fun. Nobody thinks or cares. Also, from obvious subliminal messages, it is obvious that the firemen burn down Montag's house.

P is for Printed

The only Printed things that are allowed are rules and instruction manuals. Any book that creates emotion or has pores, as Faber said, is illegal. Mrs. Phelps cried after hearing the poem Montag read, and that is the emotion that is bad.

Q is for question

Clarisse was the first person in Montag's life that questioned what he believed in. The struggle inside Montag is pretty much the whole second section. All the information he gets he can't comprehend because he doesn't know how.
