Time period and story incorporation

  • The time period is the 1920's in which many historical events have taken place
  • The main thing that can be remembered from the 1920's is the Great Depression
  • The plot of the story is Little Red Riding Hood going to grandma's house to give her cookies and then getting tricked and eaten by the wolf along with grandma

Characters

  • Little Red Riding Hood represents everybody who was partying after the end of World War 1
  • Grandma represents represents relaxation and relief after the War
  • The wolf represents the Great Depression which started in 1929 and ended in 1939
  • The lumberjack represents Franklin D Roosevelt who implied policies to end the Great Depression

LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD

  • Red 1920's flapper dress
  • White cloche hat
  • 1920's-1930's Duncan Miller glass basket
  • 1920's delicacy Lady Baltimore cake (in basket)

Grandma

  • White cloche hat with bobbed hair
  • Blue pleated skirt with shirt
  • Lying in blue Chinoiserie Bedroom set

Wolf

  • Black pinstriped suit
  • Long patterned socks
  • Oxford Bags(wide legged trousers)
  • Black club collar shirt
  • Grey tie with small geometric pattern

Lumberjack

  • FDR clothing line with pinstriped suit
  • Axe
  • Beanie

Lighting

  • When little red riding hood is walking to grandma's house light blue and yellow lights
  • When the wolf appears in the story yellow goes away and light blue goes to dark blue
  • When they get to grandma's house blue gets very dark, almost pitch black
  • When the wolf approaches the girls, lights go to red
  • When wolf eats them lights go to dark red
  • When lumberjack cuts them out lights go to yellow and light blue

Set

  • When little red riding hood is walking to grandma's house, add hanging sun and clouds above
  • Since story takes place in the 1920's add black and white sky scrapers in the background like in New York
  • When little red riding hood meets the wolf and bushes on set when he pops out
  • When both arrive to grandma's add black and white cottage on stage
  • During scene break add bed where grandma sleeps and a front door
  • When lumberjack comes and saves grandma and little red ridding hood add axe in the cottage somewhere for lumberjack to grab

Concept of the Story

The concept of the story is that if you procrastinate you will fail. Just like when little red riding hood gets persuaded by the wolf to slow down on the way and she eventually gets eaten along with grandma.
