PRESENTATION OUTLINE

SHIPS' BISCUIT

The food of the seamen

WHAT IS IT?

  • Made with water, flour & salt
  • Baked repeatedly and left out in the sun to dry

HOW WERE THEY USED?

  • Baked repeatedly then left in the sun to dry
  • They done this so they could be stored over a long period of time without going off
  • Were dipped in any liquid the seamen had when they were ready to eat it

HOW ARE THEY RELATED TO THE ARMADA'S FAILURE?

  • The biscuits weren't very healthy so the sailors would be quite weak after eating them
  • They were baked I'm such a way so that it would stop them from spoiling, but it was only partly successful.
  • Rats and weevils would eat the biscuits, the sailors used the biscuits to knock out the weevils before eating them.
