  • This level is above the "Kami", their deities.

  • The most important Shinto belief is the "fulfillment of duty."
  • Shinto followers generally follow the code of Confucianism.
  • They believe in "Kami", their multiples deities. This makes them polytheistic.

PRACTICES

  • Shinto followers practice water purification.
  • They also practice omairi, visiting Shinto shrines.
  • Harai is the offering of salt, food, rice, and tree branches to kami.
  • Ema, small wooden plaques, are left in shrines with wishes that want to be fulfilled.
