PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Sexual Violence

 Presentation by Richie Calandrino

What Is Sexual Violence?

  • Sexual violence can be defined in harrassment, assault, and rape.
  • Anyone of any age or gender can be a victim or perpetrator of these acts.
  • Most cases of sexual violence are commited by people the victim knows. (Ex: friends or family)

What is each form defined as?

  • Sexual harrassment is any unwanted remark, behavior, or content that has sexual content.
  • Sexual assault is any sexual activity in which force or the threat of force is used.
  • Rape is any penetrative sexual activity in which force or the threat of force is used.

SEXUAL HARASSMENT EXAMPLES

  • Sexual harassment can be tricky for some to define, but it can include unwanted jokes, touching, gesturing, or insistent asking of sex.
  • This harassment can turn worse when the person holds a position of power over you.
  • The best way to deal with these examples is to firmly tell the harasser to stop and then to report it to the right people. (Counslers/administration, police, etc.)
