  • Bred from the
  • Old English bull dogs &
  • And old english terriers

The American bully was bred to fight in a pit (American PIT bull terriers) against other dogs for sport.
When that was outlawed, they were used to bait Bulls and bears.

The characteristics the French and Spaniards wanted were strong jaws, a muscular body and short legs to be low to the ground.
