THE ORIGINAL MAME FOR THE SPAVE NEEDLE WAS THE SPACE CAGE.

  • It took 465 cement truck and 12 hours to fill the foundation.
  • It was built with 24 lightning rods
  • It was built for the 1962 fair
  • It was built to with stand winds to 200mph
  • Skyline level was built in 1982

The Elevator moves up at 10mph and snowflakes move at 3mph so there's a illusion that snow flakes are going up.

ALL THREE OF THE ELEVATORS WERE REPLACED IN 1993 COSTING 1.5 MILLION.
