  • Petromyzon Marinus

ORIGIN

  • Native To The Atlantic Ocean.
  • It Was first discovered in Lake Erie in 1835.

WHAT AREAS IT EFFECTS

  • The Great Lakes.
  • The Welland Canal.

HOW IT GOT HERE

  • They Entered The Great Lakes in The 1800's through man-made locks and shipping canals

METHODS USED TO ERADICATE SEA LAMPREY

  • Electrical Barriers-They would Electricute the Lakes with wires.
  • Blocking Devices-They would block the Sea Lamprey with Mechanical traps.
  • They would also put chemicals in the water to kill the Sea Lamprey.

LIFE CYCLE

  • The Sea Lamprey Hatch Into Larva.
  • Then Larva Move to the river and live there for 5-6 years.
  • Next, Larva Turn An Adult and move into the sea.
  • Finally, The Sea Lamprey Move Back to the river and die.

WHAT WE WOULD DO

  • To Eradicate The Species, we would attach electric wires to a boat and drive in the river and Electrify The River.
