EVOLUTION

The scientific theory that population of organisms change over time.

A group of organisms of the same species who live at the same geographic area at the same time.

TRAIT

A distinguished quality or characteristic that can be passed from one generation to the next.

A trait that helps the organism survive in its environment.

MUTATION

A change in an organism’s DNA. This can sometimes change their traits.

SPECIES

A specific group of organisms that can produce fertile offspring.

Humans breed for desired traits.
