WHAT IS SCIENCE?

• It is the knowledge you get from
• studying or practicing science.
• It is practiced by using the scientific
• method.

SCIENTIFIC METHOD

• Question-What do you want to know?
• Hypothesis-What do we think will happen?
• Experiment-How are we going to find out?
• Data-What information did I get?
• Conclusion-What did I find out?

PHYSICAL SCIENCE

• deals with materials that are not alive
• ways in which matter and energy work
• Ex. cooking, electricity, fire, boiling/
• freezing water, food, matter

• How do you make the 'best cookie'?
• Is that bacteria living in the yogurt?
• How greasy are your potato chips?
• How much baking powder for bread?
• Is the soup ready or not?

LIFE SCIENCE

• deals with living things
• anything with life
• Examples: plants, animals, humans

• rocks, soils, minerals
