Your teacher will give you directions that help keep you safe when doing experiments. Listen carefully and always follow your teachers directions!

Never put anything in your mouth unless the teacher says it is OK

Smells can be dangerous! If your teacher asks you to smell a material, wave, (waft), a hand over the material to draw the scent toward your nose.

Avoid touching your face, mouth, ears, and eyes while working with
chemicals, plants or animals.

Always wash your hands

with soap and water

immediately after using

materials like liquids, salt,

soils or touching animals

and plants

Never mix unknown chemicals just to see what might happen.

Protect your eyes with goggles when using sharp, pointy tools or liquids
other than water.

Report all accidents to
your teacher
immediately, even small
ones.


Clean up small spills
quickly, ask for help with
big spills or broken
materials

Your teacher will tell you what to throw away and what to keep after each experiment.

Many materials can be reused and recycled.

You should always use your best classroom behavior during lab.

If you choose not to follow the behavior rules the teacher may remove you from the activity
