Animals change the environment by making homes and getting food.
Beavers build dams with trees. The dams block the flowing water, which backs up ponds and wetlands.
Humans change the environment also.They change it by hunting,building homes, and throwing trash on the ground.

When plants and animals die their body breaks down or decays in the soil.
Living things called bacteria eat the soil .
Next earthworms and insects eat the bacteria .
When bacteria or insects die they decay in the soil too.

Plants roots help hold bits of soil together.
Elephants help plants even though they kill the plant they disperse the seed.
Caterpillars can eat huge amounts of leaves which can kill trees and other plants.

Invasive plants or animals can harm the environment .
Nutria is one of the most invasive plant it eats plants that grow in wetlands .
Burmese Pythons are one of the most harmful animals in florida because it's killing our alligators.
Like most invasive species they have no natural predator.

There are about 26% of all fish, reptiles, birds, and mammals in South Florida are exotic.
Many of invasive animals come from the everglades in Florida.
Most of invasive animals are from pets being brought over or left behind.

Elephants affect the environment by tearing tree bark.
Any animal can change the environment even small caterpillars.
Elephants also help by making water holes.They make water holes and other animals drink from it.
