What is sound?
Sound is produced by vibrating objects. We can hear sounds because we use our sense of hearing. It travels through the air until it reaches our ears.
If there is no material medium nearby (air, water, wood, metal), sound does not travel.
Sound transmits energy from the object that produces the vibration to the object that receives it.

PROPERTIES OF SOUND

PITCH: allows us to destinguish high pitched sounds from low pitched sounds.A child has a higher pitched voice.
TIMBRE: allows us to identify who or what produced the sound.
THE INTENSITY: tells us if the sound is soft or loud.

ECHO
Echo: when sound waves travel and meet and object , they reflect off it and return to our ears. This is called an echo.
Bats ,use echo to orient themeselves and to hunt for hunt for prey at night.
