MORTAR AND PESTEL

  • Mortar- a cup-shaped receptacle made of hard material, in which ingredients are crushed or ground, used especially in cooking or pharmacy.
  • Pestel- a heavy tool with a rounded end, used for crushing and grinding substances such as spices or drugs, usually in a mortar.

BEAKER TONGS

  • Used to handle hot beakers.

STIRRING ROD

  • used to mix chemicals and liquids for laboratory purposes. They are usually made of solid glass, about the thickness and slightly longer than a drinking straw, with rounded ends.

SCOOPULA

  • used primarily in chemistry lab settings to transfer solids: to a weigh paper for weighing, to a cover slip to measure melting point, or a graduated cylinder, or to a watch glass from a flask or beaker through scraping.

WATCH GLASS COVER

  • A shallow glass dish used as a beaker cover or evaporating surface.

EVAPORATING DISH

  • a small ceramic dish in which liquids are heated over a flame so that they evaporate, leaving a solid residue.

IRON RING

  • Used to clamp onto a ring stand to sit a beaker or flask.

FORCEPS

  • a large instrument with broad pincers, used to encircle a baby's head and assist in birth.

PIPET

  • a slender tube attached to or incorporating a bulb, for transferring or measuring out small quantities of liquid, especially in a laboratory.

TEST TUBE HOLDER

  • Used to hold a hot test tube.

SPOT OR WELL PLATE

  • Used to observe multiple microscale reactions

CERAMIC TRIANGLE

  • A pipeclay triangle is a piece of laboratory apparatus that is used to support a crucible being heated by a Bunsen burner or other heat source.

TEST TUBE CLEANER

  • Used to clean test tubes.

250 ml BEAKER

  • a lipped cylindrical glass container for laboratory use.

GRADUATED CYLINDER

  • Used to measure liquid volume. A very accurate tool. Graduated in mL.

TEST-TUBE

  • Used to mix, heat, or store substances.

RUBBER STOPPER

  • Used to plug a flask or testtube for safe keeping.

FILTER PAPER

  • a piece of porous paper for filtering liquids, used especially in chemical processes and coffee-making.

STRIKER

  • Used to light a Bunsen Burner

THERMOMETER

  • an instrument for measuring and indicating temperature, typically one consisting of a narrow, hermetically sealed glass tube marked with graduations and having at one end a bulb containing mercury or alcohol that expands and contracts in the tube with heating and cooling.

TEST TUBE CLAMP

  • Used to clamp onto ring stand to hold test tube.

SPATULA

  • A small implement having a broad, flat, flexible, blade that is used to mix or spread.

WIRE GAUZE

  • Used to support glassware when placed across a support ring

CERAMIC SCREEN

  • The ceramic center helps to evenly spread the heat under the container.
