PRESENTATION OUTLINE

CLIMATES OF THE WORLD

CLIMATE

  • The weather conditions in a speciific area over a long period of time

CLIMATE AND WEATHER

  • The difference between weather and climate is time.
  • Weather is the weather of conditions over a short period of time.
  • Climate is how the atmosphere "acts" over realitivly long periods of time.

TROPICAL WET

  • Found only around the equator, only one season
  • Always gets direct sunlight and the average temp. Is 80 degrees
  • Rain all year long
  • Shorts and t-shirt}dense rainforests}many types of insects,small mammals,snakes,frogs,birds}
  • Water=lake or groundwater-food=animals=shelter to find it maybe in the trees or underground}wood, stone, dirt, different stuff

TROPICAL WET AND DRY

  • Around the Equator,2 seasons
  • The only thing different is it has a winter which is the dry season
  • Lack of regular rainfall prevent from having trees
  • Shorts,shirt,maybe a coat that keeps you cool}plants=few trees,grass,and shrubs}most are herbivores
  • Food=animals, try to find ground water, trees or underground, wood and dirt

MEDITERRANEAN

  • Westeren sides of continents
  • Summer and winter, summer gets no rainfall, most rain in winter
  • Shorts,t-shirt}pine and cypress trees,vines,shrubs}goats,sheep,rabbits,jackels,lynx
  • Ground water,food=plants or animals,trees/underground}dirt,and wood

HUMID SUBTROPICAL

  • East coast of continents
  • Summer and winter, seasons dont go below 70 degrees but cool down for
  • Winter][shorts,tshirt,}evergreen trees,bushes,shrubs}mammals,reptiles,amphibions
  • Aniamals to eat, lakes, trees to shelter}wood and dirt

MARINE WEST COAST

  • West coast in midway continents
  • Summer and winter, tempertures dont change a lot.
  • Jeans,tshirt}thick forests,trees,bushes}birds,small mammals
  • Lakes,bushes/berries,trees}trees

HUMID CONTINENTAL

  • In the interior part of continents
  • summer=warm/humid,fall=cool/dry,winter=cold/harsh,spring=warm/wet
  • Shorts,tshirt,coat,jeans,long shirt}north is lots of vegatation,then south loose leaves}bears,wolves,cyotes,and deer,and small animals.
  • Lakes,rain,animals,trees}trees

SUBARCTIC

  • High latidudes continents
  • Cold to mild summers and harsh winters
  • All different clothes for winter and summer}pine, spruce, bushes, ferns}bears, eagles, wolves, bobcats, wolverines, and caribo
  • Animals,lakes,trees}trees,dirt

TUNDRA

  • Coast of arctic
  • Very harsh winter and very cool summer
  • Heavy coats and pants}mosses,linches,no trees}polar bears,musk ox,fox,owl,raindeer.
  • Fishing, ice melted or where you catch the fish, igloos}ice, igloos

ICE CAP

  • Near the poles
  • Summers never go above freezing and winters are very cold
  • Very heavy coats and pants}no plants but algae}birds, penguins, polar bears
  • Fishing,snow,igloos}ice igloos

ARID

  • On the equator or below it
  • Most only have a hot and dry season
  • Shorts,tshirt}bushes,grass,cactus}foxes,jackels,sandwinder,desert fox,scorpian
  • No where for water, bring your own food, almost no shelter,}no houses

SEMIARID

  • Outer side of arid climates
  • Winter=more rain,summer=hot
  • Shirts,tshirt}scattered trees,bushes,shrubs}zebras,graffes,deer,cyotoes,jackels,hyenas,lions
  • Maybe little rainfall, animals, little trees,}little trees that are there

HIGHLANDS

  • High mountain areas
  • No seasons
  • Coats, jeans}bottom of mountains will have what ever surrounding is,top is nothing,}smow leapards, goats, amd sheep
  • Animals,rainfall or lake,trees}trees

HOW WOULD IT EFFECT THIS

  • Bodies of water would affect how much precipitation it gets or how humid it is
  • Altitude would effect how cold it would be or how much oxygen is in the air,or how humid
  • Latitude would effect how much sunlight it gets so how hot or cold it is and the seasons, and effect your clothing
  • WInd would effect how much the temperture trops or rises, and how the seeds move around
