ACIDS AND BASES
BY: CAMRYN COTTER
2.
Acid rain
Acids rain happens when the fumes go out of a factory and are sucked up by clouds then carried away and let out in the form of rain.
Bob Jagendorf
3.
Effects :
It can hurt plants and animals it sucks the nutrients out of plants and then they die
4.
Fair warning:
Next slide contains some graphic images of animals look away if you want ( I won't judge )

EFFECTS ON STATUES AND ANIMAS
6.
Effect on animals :
The plants die and the animals have less food start fighting over food and then killing ?!?!

7.
REGULAR ACIDS
(LEMON= 2.5)
8.
ACIDS
They have a sour terrible taste
Not all are harmful
Opposite of bases
They give off H+ ions
9.
BASES
(AMMONIA = 11)

romana klee
10.
BASES
Opposite of acids
Receive H+ ions
Low on PH scale (after 7 )

WAVES / RAYS
AND THEIR ORDER
Kenny Teo (zoompict)
12.
Waves / rays in order
Shortest to longest :
1: gamma rays
2:X-rays
3: ultraviolet
4: infared
5: microwaves
6: radio waves

13.
GAMMA RAYS :
Small wavelengths
Most energy
Generated by radioactive atoms
Can kill living cells
But doctors can use them to kill diseased cells
VinothChandar
14.
RADIO WAVES :
Longest wave length
Carry lots of signals!!!
Examples: news,tv,cellular,
15.
INFARED :
Long wavelengths
Also short wavelength
Can be detected as heat
daniel_littlewood
16.
VISIBLE LIGHT :
The only electromagnetic waves we can see
As the colors of the rainbows
Every color has a different wave length
Red has the longest
Some insects can see
17.
X-RAYS :
Smaller wavelengths
Doctors use them to see our bones
Can damage important parts of reproduction
Pass easily through skin
Thomas Hawk
18.
UV RAYS :
Ultraviolet (UV) light is electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength shorter than that of visible light
Found in sunlight and it is emitted by electric arch
Causes many items to glow purpleish
19.
OZONE
The ozone protects us from harmful sun rays
Has a sharp odor
Earth stratosphere
