LOCATION

  • Saturn is about 886 million (1.4million km)miles away from the sun. That’s nine and a half times earth distance.

SATURN SIZE

  • Saturn radius is about 36,184 miles. If you were to walk around Saturn it would to you 227,349 miles.

COMPOSITION

  • Saturn is made up of 96.3 percent hydrogen and approximately 3 percent helium. Saturn has a hot solid inner core of iron. The outer core of Saturn is compose of ammonia, methane and water.

FIRST DISCOVERY

  • Galileo galilei was the first person to discover saturn in 1610. Better known for his work as an astronomer,engineer,physicist, and much more. Many people referred to him as “the father of science”.

PROBE HERE?

  • The answer is yes, there was a probe on Saturn. This probe was called cassini. This mission launched in 1997. September 15,2017 the mission came to a stop when they loss contact of cassini.

RECENT DISCOVERIES

  • Thanks to the cassini probe , NASA discovered that one of Saturn moons (Enceladus) which is made up of ice, shoots water vapor towards Saturn. It then becomes charged and collides with plasma, causing plasma wave signals.
