Irony
-Uses contradictory statements different than what appears to be true.
-Example: Huck thinks he is "bad" for protecting Jim.

FIGURE OF SPEECH USING DELIBERATE EXAGGERATION OR UNDERSTATEMENT.

Understatement
-Ironic minimizing of fact which presents something as less significant than it is.
-Example: "I'm not happy about it...".

WIT

INTELLECTUALLY AMUSING LANGUAGE THAT SURPRISES AND DELIGHTS.

Sarcasm
-Involves bitter , caustic language that is meant to hurt or ridicule someone or something.
-Example: If Huck were to say, "I'm excited for the Duke and King to come back on the boat!".
