FRANZ LISZT

BEGINNING YEARS

  • Franz Liszt was born in the village of Doborjaán a country in Sopron.
  • Father was a good musician as well.
  • His father taught him how to play the piano at the age of seven, because he knew Franz was curious .
  • By the age of eight Franz was composing in an elementary manner.
  • A year later he was already performing in concert halls.

In 1833 Liszt met and fell in love with the Comtesse Marie d Agoult and this helped him rekindle his love for music. He wrote several pieces of music based on the countryside of Switzerland. In 1842, a serious fire devastated large areas of Hamburg. Liszt responded by holding several concerts in order to raise funds with which to help the city's newly homeless people who were affected by the fire. Franz Liszt's personal life became unhappy. He had three children with Marie d Agoult, but the relationship eventually broke up.
While he was in Kiev in 1847, he met Princess Carolyne zu Sayn-Wittgenstein, who urged him to call a halt to his tireless schedule of tours, and instead dedicate himself to composing and teaching. He agreed and gave his last concert that September.

Franz Liszt was born on October 22, 1811, in Raiding, Hungary. By the time Liszt was nine years old, he was performing in concert halls. As an adult, he toured extensively throughout Europe. He had an affair and children with Marie díAgoult, and later lived with princess Carolyne zu Sayn-Wittgenstein. By his death, he had written more than 700 compositions. Franz Liszt was a famous romantic composer who was very fun to learn about!
