PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Is the adoption of children by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons. This may be in the form of a joint adoption by a same-sex couple or by one partner of a same-sex couple of the other's biological child.
WHAT IS AN ETHICAL DILEMMA?
Are situations in which there is a choice to be made between two options, neither of which resolves the situation in an ethically acceptable fashion.
WHY IS THIS AN ETHICAL DILEMMA?
Countless studies testify to the fact that children who are raised without a father and mother have a considerably harder time in life. Problems range from an increase in criminal behavior to substance abuse and psychological problems.
Having two parents of the same gender does not resolve many of these difficulties. The child will have a natural desire for a father or mother, but will have a difficult time expressing that without feeling ungrateful. The child may even feel guilty for desiring that.
WHAT IS HAPPENING IN MÉXICO?
Same-sex adoption was legalized in Mexico City in December of 2009, being the first city in the country to autorize it, causing a lot of controversy with the Catholic Church and some political parties.
According to the Museo Memoria y Tolerancia de la Ciudad de México these are the most "intolerant" cities for same-sex marriage and adoption:

Many gay couples - certainly those offering themselves as adoptive parents - form relationships that are more stable than many heterosexual marriages, thus giving adopted children a secure emotional home.
There is a shortage of adoptive parents. The 'family', whether gay or straight, is better than the foster-care system.
In an era when many children are raised by single parents - with proven disadvantages such as lower educational achievements and poor behaviour - gay couples offer adopted children two full-time parents.
To grow up to be well-balanced adults, children need role models of both sexes. Boys without fathers under-achieve, especially since there are now fewer male teachers in primary schools.
Some areas of life cannot be legislated for and must be left to individual conscience. A sufficiently large minority simply find gay parenting 'wrong'; the practice therefore should not be enforced on all.
According to UNICEF there are around 132 million orphan kids that need a new home and a new family.
In 1989 the United Nations approved the Declaration of the Rights of the Child which establishes that every child has the right to have a family that love and takes care of them. There are many homosexual couples that are willing to be that family for one of those kids, and that is really not a problem.
Many people that are against a gay couple being able to adopt a child argue that the kid might get bullied, or that the kid might turn to be gay just as his or her parents, maybe that is not natural so they are going to develop mental issues.
That is not true at all, for the bullying part the bully's parents are the ones that should teach their children about tolerance, respect and empathy, and finally if you say that they might develop mental issues, just think about how lonely an orphan kid might be, how bad they feel when there is no one adopts them.
