LIVING THINGS REPRODUCE

  • Some living things like turtles lay eggs to reproduce
  • Mammals give birth from their own bodies instead of using eggs

LIVING THINGS GROW AND DEVELOP

  • Grass grows from a seed and then into a blade
  • Animals develop from a fetus and eventually a grown animal

LIVING THINGS OBTAIN AND USE ENERGY

  • The digestion process breaks food down into glucose
  • Glucose is used as energy in the body
  • Plants use photosynthesis to make food from sunlight

LIVING THINGS RESPOND TO THEIR ENVIRONMENT

  • The knockout rose plant grows leaves with points on them.
  • They do this to prevent herbivores from eating the leaves

LIVING THINGS MAINTAIN A STABLE INTERNAL ENVIRONMENT

  • The skin of the cucumber helps maintain the right temperarure
  • Animals also use their skin to keep a constant body temperature

LIVING THINGS ARE BASED ON A GENETIC CODE

  • The salvia plant like all living things has certain traits
  • Some of these are color and size
  • Humans have traits like skin color and hair color

LIVING THINGS GROW AND DEVELOP

  • The witch hazel plant constantly grows once it is planted
  • Humans and animals also change as they grow and develop
