  • Her real name is Sally Kirsten Ride.

  • Ride joined NASA 1978 age 32
  • Sally was one of 8,000 to get an advertisment of NASA
  • Ride served as ground-based capsule communicator
  • June 18,1983 Sally was the First American Women to go to space
  • Her second flight was 1984 , a total of 340 hours

AFTER NASA

  • 1987 Sally left her position to work a Stanford University Center for International Security and Arms Control.
  • 1989 Ride became a professor of physics at the University of Cali. , San Diego
  • Also director California Space Institute
  • Around from 1990,Sally lead two public-outreach programs ISS EarthKAM and Grail MoonKam
  • Ride was president and CEO of Sally Ride Science

DEATH

  • Sally died July 23 , 2012
  • 17 months of pancreatic cancer
  • She was 61 years old
  • Following her cremation, her ashes were interred next to her fathers
  • Located at Woodlawn Cemetery , Santa Monica,Cali.
