  • a Sacrament that is part of the Sacraments of Initiation,
  • cleansing of original sin, and the
  • first Sacrament that all Christians recieve

  • It is used for the act of cleansing of original sin in the Sacrament of Baptism.
  • It is used for protection against evil
  • It symbolizes the spiritual cleansing.

WHAT IS WHITE GARMENT AND WHAT DO THEY SYMBOLIZE?

  • It symbolizes "putting on Christ".
  • It is worn by the infant that is being baptized to symbolize purity.

  • Candles symbolizes that the infant is "the light of the world".
  • It is used to illuminate the way ahead.
