ROSA'S PERSONAL LIFE

  • Parks attended high school in Montgomery, a laboratory school at the Alabama State Teachers' College for Negros.
  • Rosa left early in the 11th grade, at the age of 16 because she had to take care of her dying grandmother and shortly after, her chronically ill mother.
  • Raymond Parks, Rosa's husband, supported Rosa in her efforts to earn her high-school diploma, which she ultimately did the following year.

  • Rosa inspired Vera Johnson by holding various positions to bring changes with the Bus Boycott and Civil Rights Movement.
