PRESENTATION OUTLINE

ROME POLITICS

Rome was a very sophisticated civilization, with a very complex government at the time.

The Roman's greatest ruler was Julius Caesar. Caesar was very talented in many ways and knew that the only way to rise was by being successful in war.

Caesar was swift in battle and was the reason for many victories. Soon it was common to see him with a Laurel Wreath on his head, which was a sign of recent victory in battle.

Caesar knew that Rome was strong, and gathered an army over time to conquer it. He declared himself on the side of the poor and the weak, which gained him great popularity with the commoners of Rome.

After years of civil war within Roman walls, Caesar was named dictator for life when it usually lasts a couple years or so.

After a few years within his reign, people started to worry about his growing power. It was fretted that maybe Caesar would want to declare himself king of Rome.

Basically nobody liked kings, they all hated them quite deeply. Eventually the overall tension between the rich and the poor reached a peak at the opinions of Caesar, and he was brought down by his council.

So he was shanked by his friends. He got stabbed 23 times then bled out on the ground. Alone. And angry.

It was then that the new ruler, Augustus came to rebuild Rome. He thought of himself as a commoner, and wore plain tunics and ate like the normal: Cheese, Olives, and Bread.

This dude was loved by everyone and rebuilt Rome, and even got the month of August named after him.
