And they were taught either at home by a private tutor or went to what we would recognize as a school

Only 30% of the people regularly attend church
The Roman Catholic Church has had a strong influence on laws in the past
But now they have weekend allowing, in 1978, abortions
And, in 1970, legalizing divorce

Italy is one of the world's greatest center of architecture, art & books
A lot of the art museums rank among the most famous in the world
The museums are the famous palace of kings or the houses of royal families
Including the Pitti Palace and the Uffizi Palace

Most of the Romans live in apartments
And the wealthy people live in single family homes
The poor neighborhoods are usually located on the outer part of the city
In the big cities air pollution has damaged many priceless architecture
Many cities have banned private cars to help reduce this problem
