Climate
The climate of Romania is temperate-continental, meaning there are four distinct seasons. Due to this fact, Romania experiences hot summers, cool, dry autumns, cold winters with snow and fog, and mild springs.
Holidays
The official holiday is the Orthodox Easter. The holiday is three days long, Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Monday are non-working, Tuesday is not a public holiday.
In Romania, Christmas and mid-winter celebrations last from 20th December to 7th January. The 20th is when people celebrate St. Ignatius's Day. It is traditional that if the family keep pigs, one is killed on this day. The meat from the pig is used in the Christmas meals.

Sarmale is a very typical Romanian dish that can be found on most menus. The dish consists of sour cabbage leaves stuffed with a mixture of pork and beef and served with sides of polenta (or mamaliga as it's locally known) and usually salty smoked bacon.
