What I found interesting

  • Talking with professionals.
  • Loved reading research articles.
  • Statistics.
* Divorce rate is steady (not increasing) but less people are getting married and in later life stages.
*56% of 18-35 year olds don't want to get married
*Intimacy is also key.
*People give what they want
*Most people think sense of humor is most important
*money: least important.
*studies show that attractive women have fewer sex partners and more exclusive relationships.
*The vast majority of couples select partners who are similar to themselves in both status and attractiveness.
*initial attraction may not be dependent on sex, but rather on who is approaching whom.
*cheerleader effect: Average faces are more attractive, likely due to the averaging out of unattractive idiosyncrasies
*thought it was interesting that everyone I talked to agreed on two things: communication is key and similarity is important for attraction.

Design techniques

  • Wanted to use lighter colors
  • Consistent alighment
  • Used headings and clustered content
  • Adhered to guidelines discussed in class
I used design principles that I learned in class to create the best website possible. I kept my alignment consistent to make my stories easy for readers. I adhered to the principle of hierarchy by clustering content together, creating a relationship of items, and by adding subheads. I created contrast by manipulating space and colors.

I chose the colors for my website because they match the lighthearted nature of my stories. I was consistent with my design by keeping it the same across all pages on the website. I have a header or logo, creation date, copyright statement, navigation bar and contact information on each page in order to guide the user.
