Romans spoke Latin. Romance languages are the languages that came from the Romans. Latin and Greek were the dominant languages of the Roman Empire, but other languages were important regionally. These other languages include Italian and Spanish.

753 BC was the traditional date of the founding of the city of Rome by Romulus, a fictional character who killed his twin brother.

Romance languages have preserved a highly developed Conjuaticnal System, inherited from Latin, in which the inflection make clear person and number.
