The Colosuem
It was built in 72 ad. It was last used in 435 ad.

Monumental structure: A large structure man-made of stone or earth.

The Coloseum comes from the word "Coloseus" referring to a gigantic statue of the emperor Nero. It was used for holding funeral games to honor the dead, only wealthy Romans attended.

The Colosseum is a great example of roman engeniring, this building is the biggest Amphitheater in the world.

The purpose of the Colosseum was to entertain people with different kinds of fights like men vs beasts, wild animal hunt, gladiator combats and vicious boxing acts.

The most memorable event that occurred here was the Accounts of Water Battles at the Colosseum.
The Water Battles at the Colosseum were documented by Ancient Roman writers who recorded that the Colosseum was used for naumachiae, which is Greek word for sea warfare.

The purpose of the Colosseum was really only to entertain people, to host battles, wealthy Romans and other wealthy people attended.

Severe damage was made to the Colosseum by a big earthquake in 1349, it caused the outer south side collapse. Much of the stone was reused to build palaces, churches, hospitals and other buildings in Rome.
