ROUTE

THIS MAP IS THE ROUTE TAKEN BY ROBERT LA SALLE

La Salle's career in exploration began when he traveled to Quebec,Canada as a French colonist. In 1667 he was granted a large plot of land on Montreal island which he sold two years later in hopes of starting his career as an explorer. His goal was to find the northwest passage to Asia. La SALLE set up an exploration with nine canoes from Montreal Quebec in 1669. La SALLE and his crew were however not prepared for this expedition, but did reach Lake Ontario. The expedition turned back to Montreal to months later without reaching the river la SALLE believed led to China, the Ohio river.

Robert La Sale was a French explorer who was sent by king Luis to travel south from Canada and down the Mississippi River.(1682)He was the first European to travel the Mississippi River. His mission was to explore and establish trade routes along the river. He also explored Lake Michigan, Lake Erie, Lake Huron, and Lake Ontario.(1679)He tried to start a settlement in the Mississippi River valley, but later it turned out into a disaster. France supported his exploration.
