1753 IT BEGINS

  • The English and French begin war over the Ohio River Valley
  • The Indians chose the side that would give them a better future

1760 THE WAR IS OVER

  • The French lost the war and lost land
  • The English won the Ohio River Valley

1763 THE PROCLAMATION

  • King George founded the proclamation of 1763
  • The proclamation angered the English colonist
  • The colonist were not allowed to go into the new land
  • The king sent soldiers to keep the colonist from passing

1765 THE STAMP ACT

  • The colonist had to pay taxes on paper goods
  • They were angry because they had no representation in government

1765 THE QUARTERING ACT

  • The colonists had to house and feed the soldiers
  • The colonists where running out of food

1766 DECLATORY ACT

  • It stated that the parliament had the right to tax the colonists
  • Mainly stated the power of the british crown

1766 THE TOWNSHEND ACT

  • Put tax on glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea
  • Americans viewed the tax as abuse of power

BOSTON MASSACRE 1770

  • The colonist begain a mob
  • The soldiers killed 5 people in self defense
  • Paul Revere painted a painting called The Bloody Massacre
  • The painting made it appear more people were killed than there actually was

BOSTON TEA PARTY 1770

  • The king put taxes on tea
  • The colonists boycotted the British tea
  • The colonists smuggled Dutch teag
