About Rita

• Rita began writing stories in kindergarten.
• By 12 years old she was sending books into magazines.
• She sold her first short story to a magazine at age 14.

Rita became a write because as a child she was always moving around and when she lived in Queens, New York her parents wouldn't let her and her siblings go outside to play so all she did growing up was write.

Rita's first book that was published and very popular was Blue Tights. It took her 7 years to write and get it published.
