Vitamin B2

  • Riboflavin is yellow
  • Suggested intake: 1.2mg 
  • Used in food coloring
  • water soluble 

Found in many foods such as:

  • avocados, asparagus, green beans
  • cottage cheese, milk, yogurt
  • meat, eggs, fish, popcorn, bananas
  • baby food, cereal, pasta, sauces
  • mushrooms

  • Poor solubility in water
  • Huge role in energy metabolism 
  • Key role in metabolism of fats,
  • ketone bodies, carbohydrates, & proteins

Deficiency Diseases

  • Ariboflavinosis
  • Glossitis
  • Angular stomatitis

Symptoms of Ariboflavinosis

  • cracked red lips
  • inflammation lining mouth
  • cracked corners of mouth
  • sore throat
